Ben Archer

Managing Director

What’s your role within the business?

I’m the Managing Director for Arbury Motor Group. My role is to motivate and guide the Operational team day-to-day, develop medium- and long-term strategies, and maintain manufacturer partner relations.

How long have you worked here?

I’ve worked within Arbury Motor Group for 18 years now. Not quite since day 1!

Tell us about your journey with Arbury.

I joined the business back in August 2004 as a Fleet Sales Executive, based at our Leamington retailer. I worked closely for 12 months with the Fleet Manager at the time – it was a great introduction to the motor industry as I’d previously worked in marketing.

After this, I spent a further 12 months in Leamington as the New Car Sales Manager, and was introduced to the fast-paced world of retail! From there, I moved to our Nuneaton PEUGEOT retailer as the General Sales Manager and worked with an incredible team for three years. This part of my journey through Arbury Group was undoubtedly where I learned the most.

When we purchased Arbury Walsall back in 2007, I moved over to head up the Sales department there and spent a very fulfilling two years working with some of the best in the business. In 2010, when we purchased our Bromsgrove site, I had the opportunity to take on my first General Manager role, which covered the next 10 years of my career – again, working with a fantastic team. This was very much where I cut my teeth in the aftersales arena, and this knowledge has stood me in good stead as I moved to a Group role where I now reside.

What do you love about working here?

The people! I appreciate that’s the go-to sentiment, but it’s true. While we’ve grown steadily over the last 21 years, we’ve managed to build and maintain a culture of ‘the team comes first’. Our people are our biggest and best asset, and we should continue to nurture and develop the very best in the business.

What’s your biggest accomplishment?

Navigating the Group through two years of Covid. There were huge challenges, particularly around our people and our customers, but the team always adapted quickly to any changes that came our way.

What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally – being in and around the team, and seeing individuals develop and move through our business. The drive and ambition of these people excites me!

Personally – seeing my kids develop into fabulous young adults. It makes me super proud.

Sum up working at Arbury in one word.

Perfect.
