Arbury champions car industry apprenticeships with local students

At Arbury, we're passionate about the motor trade and supporting the next generation to start their careers in this exciting, fast-paced industry, and so were thrilled to get the opportunity to speak with students from Warwick Trident College.

Arbury champions car industry apprenticeships with local students

It was a fantastic event, with more than 60 students from across all the colleges’ motor vehicle courses attending the session.

Four members of our Arbury team – People Manager Jenny Stenning, Dealer Principal Brad Beasley, Master Technician Andy Draper and Apprentice Dylan Clare – visited the college to deliver a presentation to students and provide unique insight from a variety of roles here at Arbury. We even donated a Ford Fiesta for students to train with in the college’s workshop!

Our Master Technician at Arbury in Leamington Spa, Andy Draper, discussed his personal journey over the last 10 years – starting out as an apprentice in the car industry to becoming a master technician. He was accompanied by our Arbury apprentice, Dylan Clare, who gave a brilliant and insightful talk on what it’s like to be an apprentice working for #TeamArbury.

Joshua Saul, Motor Vehicle Instructor and Technician at Warwick Trident College, part of WCG (Warwickshire College Group), believes it’s important for the students to know about the potential pathways after leaving the college. He expressed his delight at the success of the event, saying:

“We had a brilliant turnout for this session with Arbury. It was clear the students were interested in learning about the potential career opportunities out there for them and they had a lot of questions for the Arbury team. Sessions with employers like this provide invaluable insights for students as they plan their next steps.

“It is important to see that there is a goal at the end of the course and the pathway they can follow if they excel in their course. We’d like to thank Arbury for joining us and for the car donation too which will be used as a diagnostic car by our Level 3 students. I know some of the students have already applied for apprenticeship openings with Arbury which is fantastic.”

At Arbury, we’re delighted to be investing in young people – introducing them to the car industry and showcasing all the exciting learning opportunities that Arbury have to offer.

Brad voiced Arbury’s warm thanks to Trident College.

“We’d like to thank the Trident College team and the students who came to meet us. We felt extremely welcome. At Arbury, we firmly believe in investing in the future and in the youth of the motor industry. We thank you for the opportunity to have held this presentation locally, where we hope to have a positive impact on the careers of all of the students. Thank you to the Trident College Team.”
