Urgent recall safety notice for Citroën drivers

Stellantis UK have issued a critical Stop Drive Safety Recall for select Citroën and DS models due to a potentially dangerous fault with Takata airbags. Read the following details carefully to take the appropriate action.

Urgent recall safety notice for Citroën drivers

If you own any of the following vehicles, please read this message carefully and take immediate action:

·       A Citroën C3 second generation (from 24/09/2008 to 21/02/2017)

·       A Citroën C4 (from 02/02/2010 to 20/05/2018)

·       A DS3 first generation (from 2009 to 2019)

·       A DS4 (from 05/05/2010 to 03/02/2017)

·       A DS5 (from 30/06/2010 to 09/02/2018)

An urgent Stop Drive recall for these models has been issued by Stellantis. If you own one, you must stop driving your vehicle immediately – as soon as it’s safe to do so.

A decision to recall vehicles, especially a Stop Drive, comes after multiple factors are assessed, including airbag specifications, vehicle age and usage, climate conditions and notifications from regulatory authorities.

What issue has been identified?

This recall is due to serious safety concerns with the Takata airbags installed in these vehicles. Over time, particularly in hot and humid conditions, the airbag inflators can deteriorate and pose a risk of rupture. In the event of a collision, the airbag may not deploy properly, which could lead to serious injury or even death.

Arbury are committed to ensuring that you always stay safe on the road. Although no instances of airbags failing to deploy properly have been reported in the UK, drivers of the affected models must adhere to the Stop Drive order as soon as possible.

What should I do next?

1. Check if your vehicle is affected using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) checker on the Citroën UK website here: https://www.citroen.co.uk/maintain/safety-recall-check.html

2. If your vehicle is listed, register at any of our Citroen service locations or Peugeot dealerships immediately for the necessary repair.

3. If you’re unable to register online, call the recall helpline on 0800 917 9285.

4. For any other concerns, contact Citroën customer care on 0800 093 9393.

Additionally, if your address or contact details have changed, you must inform the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority) so you can be contacted quickly and efficiently.
