Celebrating 90 years of Nissan

Here at Arbury, we’ve been proudly representing Nissan for over a decade. We were therefore excited to hear that this iconic Japanese manufacturer will be celebrating its 90th anniversary on 26th December 2023.

Celebrating 90 years of Nissan

A firm favourite in the automotive and racing worlds, Nissan is marking the occasion in style with a series of commemorative initiatives that look back on its incredible legacy, celebrate its present and look to the future.

“Do what others don’t dare to do”

Since its founding in 1933, Nissan has been driven by their DNA to “do what others don’t dare to do”. This daring spirit has inspired Nissan and generations of its employees to push the boundaries of innovation – enriching people’s lives with memorable journeys and pioneering technology to create a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world.

A rich history

A 90th wedding anniversary would be known as a ‘granite’ anniversary, I was hoping for a granite-encrusted car, Flintstones style. 2023 marks nine decades of passion, always moving forward and striving towards innovative technologies and products. From pulse-racing performance cars to family favourites, surf wagons and 4x4s, it’s little surprise that Nissan has won the hearts of motorists across the generations.

Some of our most favourite models that made history include:

·       Datsun Type 14 – One of Nissan’s earliest products, released in 1935.

·       Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon – This sixties icon was perfect for hitting the beach.

·       Nissan 1967 Patrol – The boxy second-generation of this small SUV has unmistakable retro charm.

·       Nissan GT-R – Nissan’s halo performance model follows in the footsteps of the 2009 Skyline GTR.

·       Nissan 350Z – One of the most famous film cars of all time, immortalised in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

·       Nissan LEAF – The world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, the LEAF was – and still is – at the forefront of the electric revolution.

·       Nissan Qashqai – The best-selling car in the UK in 2022. Need we say more?

A daring legacy

To celebrate its milestone anniversary, Nissan have created a dedicated logo that represents the company’s illustrious past and ambitions for the future. What’s more, the brand has been expanding its online engagement with customers. The brand is refreshing four worlds in the Nissan Crossing metaverse VRchat by adding special features and content.

On top of this, Nissan are highlighting cars that have daring moments that embody their identity and courage, from the Nissan Patrol crossing Australia’s vast Simpson Desert in 1962 to a look at the GT Academy, which dared to prove to the racing world that with passion and drive, young gamers could transform their virtual skills into real-world motorsport careers. Looking to the future

These nods to the milestone year are a brilliant celebration of Nissan’s heritage. And, with their pledge to continue to “do what others don’t dare to do”, we can’t wait to see what the marque has in store for the next 90 years!
