Looking to buy a New Fiat 600? The most important decision to make is the powertrain. The pure-electric 600e sports a 154bhp front-mounted motor, delivering 0–62mph in nine seconds and up to 252 miles (La Prima trim) of WLTP range. The onboard 100kW DC charger can take the battery from 20% to 80% in 27 minutes.

The model will also be offered with a mild-hybrid version (mHEV), powered by a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, paired with an electrified six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Fiat hopes this will open the door for those looking to dip their toe in electric driving. The mHEV features acceleration to 62 mph in about 11 seconds and a practically instantaneous torque delivery from the e-motor to optimise performance and responsiveness.

Fiat aficionados might recognise the 600 moniker, which appeared in the 1950s on a nippy city car and also on the early 2000s’ Seicento urban explorer. The latest 600, however, is firmly an SUV in size and stature.

It shares DNA with the iconic 500 with the trademark round LED headlights and thin air intakes, but exudes a larger, more muscular appearance. With a 4.17-metre length and five doors, the new Fiat 600 comfortably fits five people and also boats with best-in-class front storage and a 385-litre boot.
