Get a first look at the new Peugeot 508, due in 2018

Spy photographers have managed to snap the first photos of the new Peugeot 508 Saloon, due to arrive in 2018.

Sharper and more style-focused than ever, the new 508 Saloon promises to rival high-end offerings such as the BMW 3-Series, with a sleek roofline and a swooping silhouette that looks to be based on the Instinct Concept, which was recently shown at Mobile World Congress.

Underneath the carefully wrapped exterior, the 508 is said to be jumping from Peugeot’s older platform to PSA’s EMP2 architecture, which most importantly supports hybrid technology. As more cars are made available in this eco-friendly option, this move suggests the 508 may be the next to make the jump to electric technology.

More new car buyers are opting for small SUVs and crossovers in today’s market, meaning the Peugeot will need to go all out with their new design – Maxime Picat, Peugeot’s Managing Director, said: ‘We see the segment the car is in is losing customers…so the opportunities for sales are going to decline step by step if we stand still.

‘So it might be that we look at changing some of the car’s capabilities in order to compete. We won’t take a big risk…but we can move the lines of where the class is and be a little bold. We have a solution which, we think, is a good surprise – but I will not tell you more.’

It sounds as though the new 508 Saloon will be well worth waiting for, but for now, you can browse the current range of Peugeot models right here at Arbury.
