Looking to an electric future with Peugeot
Peugeot is charging towards an electric future, with two exciting new models hitting the roads. The French marque’s e-LEGEND Concept was unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, setting out its ambitions in developing a range of electric cars to reduce the impact of motoring on the environment. And now the all-new e-2008 SUV and all-new e-208 have joined Peugeot’s lineup, combining innovative design, state-of-the-art technology and, of course, outstanding environmental performance.
With a range of benefits and incentives for drivers making the switch to electric motoring, it is unsurprising that registrations of plug-in cars have surged from just 3,500 in 2013 to more than 246,000 by the end of October 2019 (according to nextgreencar.com

A new driving sensation
Going electric isn’t just good for the environment, but also offers you a calm and collected driving experience. The quiet under the bonnet and the reduced vibrations offer an enhanced level of driving comfort, adding extra refinement and sophistication to your journey. But don’t be fooled by the silence – Peugeot electric vehicles offer immediate engine torque to power you forward. Now, let’s find out a little more about the two new electric models:
The all-new PEUGEOT e-2008 SUV
This all-electric SUV offers exceptional space, innovative technology and uncompromised driving dynamics as standard. Its efficient yet powerful electric-motor-and-battery combination is contained within a distinctive, sporty exterior. And with an impressive 206-mile range (WLTP), you can escape the ordinary and journey afar!
The all-new PEUGEOT e-208
Rule the urban environment with this dynamic electric city car. As quiet as it is responsive on the road, this seductively streamlined vehicle boasts a striking and modern silhouette and a range of up to 217 miles (WLTP).
Aside from the obvious environmental benefits, many of the advantages associated with electric cars come down to cost. Peugeot say their electric vehicles make for an average consumption gain of 40% and maintenance that is up to 30% cheaper compared to a combustion vehicle!
And, because they don’t emit harmful CO2 or NOx gases, there are a host of ways in which you can save and benefit from different grants, tax benefits and exemptions for electric vehicles:
• You can benefit from the Government Grant scheme of up to £3,500.
• You’ll also be exempt from paying the London Congestion Charge – if you were to drive into London five days a week, each week for a year, then you could save up to £2,500 annually!
• Electric vehicles are currently exempt from paying the basic rate of tax (VED), which saves drivers £145 per year.
• If you’re a company car driver, you will benefit from reduced company car tax (BIK) – 0% for tax year 2020/21.
