Get your Kicks: New Nissan hybrid crossover coming soon!

At #TeamArbury, we were delighted to hear the news that a new hybrid compact crossover is on the way from Nissan. It drives like an EV – instant, smooth and quiet – but fills up like a petrol car, giving you another way to go electric on your own terms.

Following the recent announcement of the Nissan PIXO, Nissan are kicking off a new chapter in electrified choice.

The Nissa Kicks joins an electrified line-up that already includes Qashqai, Juke and LEAF. For customers, the headline is simple: more electrified choice, at a price and package that fits real life.

The model’s global record speaks for itself. It’s been around since 2016 and the second generation is currently built in Japan, Mexico and Brazil for sale worldwide. The nameplate has surpassed 1.8 million units sold in more than 70 countries. This announcement marks its European debut – and, for the first time, adds an e-POWER hybrid variant.

It will be built in Sunderland as part of a £170m investment in the plant, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary.

A hybrid that makes sense for everyday life

For families and first-time electric buyers in particular, the practical appeal of the Kicks is clear.

The UK newcomer will be equipped with Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system, launched in 2025 and comprehensively re-engineered for even better fuel efficiency, lower emissions and elevated refinement.

The wheels are driven solely by a powerful electric motor, while the petrol engine is used only to generate electricity and recharge the onboard battery. The result is the refinement, instant response and smooth, linear acceleration of an EV, with the familiar convenience of filling up at a petrol station.

More than 1.9 million e-POWER hybrid models have been sold globally since the technology launched in 2016. That’s a decade of real-world data behind every car!

Design, technology and the Kicks difference

The Kicks pairs its electrified drivetrain with exciting design and innovative technology – a distinctive compact crossover that stands apart in one of Europe’s most competitive segments. With the next-generation Juke going electric-only, Nissan will hope to continue the Kicks’ predecessor’s success by offering the petrol hybrid Kicks in the UK.

It slots into the range beneath the Qashqai, giving buyers a genuine choice at every size and budget: Juke for style-led city driving, Kicks for compact crossover versatility, Qashqai for family space and LEAF for a fully electric future.
