Peugeot revealed as UK's most dependable car brand in J.D. Power survey

At Arbury we were delighted to see Peugeot come out on top of a recent car brand dependability survey. Consumer ratings agency J.D. Power published their fifth annual Vehicle Dependability Survey (VDS) earlier in May, with Peugeot being announced as the top brand for cars between one and three years old, with ŠKODA and Nissan also performing well.

The survey

The influential study is based on responses from 11,530 owners of new vehicles registered from November 2015 to January 2018, measuring the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (lower scores equal better performance). This year’s survey showed better results for more mainstem manufacturers than premium brands, with just one premium brand featuring in the top ten. 

The Vehicle Dependability Survey measured the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) across eight categories and 177 symptoms: vehicle exterior; driving experience; features/controls/displays (FCD); audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); seats; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); vehicle interior; and engine and transmission

Peugeot ranked highest overall with the lowest score of 77 PP100, followed by ŠKODA (88 PP100). Next in the list was Nissan.




Peugeot 208 revealed as most dependable small car

Specific models from the French automotive manufacturer also performed well in the study, featuring in the top three of several segments. The Peugeot 208 topped the Small Car category, plus the 3008 and 2008 were the second best-performing in the Compact SUV and Small SUV categories respectively. The 108 was the third most-dependable City Car.
